Event Description

On the 1st of December it is Romanian National Day and Romanians around the world celebrate, showing their love for their country and their traditions.

Like every year, we, the Romanian Community in Limerick gathered together in Finnegans restaurant celebrate the Romanian way. We've been reacquainted with old friends while we made also new ones.

We organised a display of traditional costumes, we ate and we had a glass of wine, we sang, we danced - it was a wonderful event, full of beauty and emotions. 

Meeting with New Communities Partnership (NCP)

The AGM of New Communities Partnership (NCP) took place in Limerick on June 6th 2009.

The event gathered leaders of minorities from Ireland. The purpose of the meeting was to present the achievements and future plans of the organization and for the Romanian minority to meet the leader of Romanian Community, Anca Lupu from Dublin.

New Communities Partnership (NCP) is a national umbrella network of migrant led groups in Ireland.

eiro was also present at the meeting to represent the Romanian community from Limerick and Mid-West of Ireland.

NCP membership comprises community and voluntary groups from Asian, Middle Eastern, North African, European, the Caribbean, South American and African backgrounds. 

Membership is drawn from refugee & asylum seeker individuals and groups, faith groups, second and third country nationals, EU migrant networks, first generation, and new & settled migrant group

Romanians vote in Limerick for European Parliamentary Elections 2019

On May 26th 2019 Romanian living in Ireland can vote the Romanian members of the European Parliament.

Voting will start at 7:00AM and until 9:00PM (local time) when the voting section will close.

Romanians in the Middle and West of Ireland can vote in Limerick at the Voting Section 138 opened in Strand Hotel Limerick. Parking is available on site.

First round:

  • Friday, 8 November, 12:00 - 21:00
  • Saturday, 9 November, 7:00 - 21:00
  • Sunday, 10 November, 7:00 - 21:00

Second round

  • Friday, 22 November, 12:00 - 21:00

Official Launch of eiro

On the 29th of April 2008 a group of Romanian and Irish members of the eiro met the Mayor of Limerick City, Mr. Ger Fahy.

The purpose of the meeting was the launch of the association. At the same time it was the first official meeting of the eiro with another public organization.

The eiro message to the City Hall is that we are a part of the local community and we want to work together to add value to Limerick and Ireland.
