Mărțișor 2023 - Kids workshop to celebrate Spring

Saturday, March 4th, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm

The Citizen Innovation Lab, Sarsfield Street, Limerick V94 DW21.

Event Description

On March 1st, we fondly remember from our childhood the emotions and joy we had when we gave or received baubles either at school or from friends. Many of us continue this tradition and here in Ireland we wear a Martisor every March 1st to celebrate the first day of spring.

So that children from the diaspora can also feel this little joy of March 1st, we invite you to celebrate the day of March together. We aim to teach children of any nationality about this Romanian holiday, and to play with them by making martișoare together. We hope that the joy of making them with their own hands and the enthusiasm of the adults when they receive the freshly made Martișoare will bring us all good luck in the spring of this year.

We look forward to seeing you in Limerick at The Citizen Innovation Lab, on the new campus of the University of Limerick, on Sarsfield Street, in the heart of Limerick V94 DW21, on Saturday 4th March from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.

Anca will introduce us to the story of Mărțișor. Children and adults will then make martișoare and at the end a short surprise activity. We will serve you with refreshments and small snacks.

The invitation is open to all friends and children of any nationality, the event being organized both in Romanian and in English. To cover part of the organization expenses, a payment of €5 per child is required. This can be done through Revolut at 087 6185559.

In order to be properly prepared, please send us by email to info@eiro.ie by Wednesday 01/03/2023 the age and first name of the children who will accompany you to the Martișor celebration.
